DENVER - Before the Rockies could catch their breath, Geraldo Perdomo was standing on third.
Arizona's six-run first Thursday at Coors Field featured Gabriel Moreno's three-run homer and Nolan Arenado's two-run shot, and Perdomo's sharp triple to center sat in the middle of that surge. He scored, kept reaching, and finished 3-for-5 with three runs, one RBI, a walk, and that triple - his eighth of the season - as the Diamondbacks outslugged Colorado 12-8.
ESPN's box matches the three-hit line. The Associated Press credited Arizona with a season-high 18 hits, its most since a 21-hit night at this park on June 20, 2025.
The victory stretched Arizona's streak to five. The AP had the Diamondbacks at 85-74, sitting three games off the last NL wild-card spot with four contests remaining before a weekend series in San Diego. Colorado closed its home slate at 57-102, a major-league-worst mark and the club's third-most losses in a season, the AP reported.
First-inning flood, then more
Moreno's 16th homer and Arenado's 29th - Arenado finished with three hits and has eight September homers - framed the early explosion against Tanner Gordon. Perdomo's triple was the gap shot that kept the line moving. Pavin Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, and two RBI.
Lars Nootbaar added three hits and two runs. James McCann homered in the sixth, his sixth of the year, and finished 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Gordon lasted 3 1/3 innings and was charged with 10 runs on 12 hits in ESPN's box, walking four with one strikeout as his ERA climbed to 6.68. Colorado has surrendered a league-high 137 runs before the second inning this year, per the AP.
Holding a slugfest
Eduardo Rodriguez (16-7) gave Arizona six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits with no walks and three strikeouts, ending the night at a 2.89 ERA. The Rockies still piled up 17 hits. Kyle Karros went deep in the sixth.
