Arizona reached the New York 4-yard line with 22 seconds remaining Sunday, Oct. 4, but its chance at a late comeback ended with a 36–24 loss to the Giants.
Trailing by six at MetLife Stadium, the Cardinals had first-and-goal after a pass-interference penalty. Three incompletions followed. On fourth down, Deonte Banks intercepted Jacoby Brissett and returned the ball 98 yards for a touchdown as time expired.
The finish made the final margin larger than the situation Arizona faced on that last possession. It also left the Cardinals at 1–3 after they had opened the game with a 14–3 lead.
Arizona’s running game was productive early. The Cardinals gained 81 rushing yards on their first two drives but finished with 123 for the afternoon, according to the team’s official recap.
