Soroka Dominates in Win
Michael Soroka delivered a masterful pitching performance to guide the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies. He allowed just one earned run while striking out nine batters across seven innings of work. His outing, which included only two hits and one walk, proved decisive in securing his ninth win of the season, improving his record to 9-5.
Soroka’s ability to miss bats was a key factor in containing Colorado’s offense. He was supported by relief pitchers Juan Morillo and Kevin Ginkel, who kept the score intact. Morillo secured the final out of the eighth inning with two strikeouts and no hits or walks allowed. Ginkel pitched the ninth, allowing one hit but maintaining the shutout to preserve the win.
Early Surge Defines Game
The Diamondbacks established control early, scoring four runs in the first inning to set the tone. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (Moreno) doubled to center, driving in Jordan Lawlar (Vargas). Perdomo followed with a single to center, adding another run. Carroll then doubled to left, bringing home Perdomo and moving Arenado to third base.
In the third inning, Evan Carter (Tawa) extended the lead with a ground-rule double that scored Arenado. However, Colorado responded briefly when Moniak hit a 431-foot home run to right center for their first run. Norby added another run with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Johnston.
