Two residents were forced to leave their homes after fireworks triggered a fire at an apartment complex in Mesa on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on Lindner Avenue, where flames were observed on the building's roof.
Mesa Fire and Medical Department officials stated that crews received several 911 calls reporting smoke and fire before responding to the scene around 10 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an active blaze on the roof. Personnel from both Mesa and Chandler fire departments collaborated to contain the fire and stop it from spreading to other parts of the structure.
No injuries were reported among the occupants. However, the fire displaced two people from the complex. Investigators later determined that fireworks were the cause of the ignition.
Mesa Fire and Medical officials issued a reminder to residents to exercise caution when using fireworks, noting that such devices can quickly ignite homes, buildings, and other structures. The investigation into the specific circumstances of the fire remains ongoing.
