Arizona State University's athletic department is exploring opportunities to monetize its brand, according to Athletic Director Graham Rossini. Speaking to the media during the Sun Devils' annual scrimmage at Camp Tontozona on August 15, Rossini highlighted the potential for advertising on team jerseys across various sports.

The topic of jersey sponsorship has gained attention following the Big 12's announcement of a partnership with Monster Energy for football and basketball. This agreement allows individual schools to pursue their own sponsorships without interference. Rossini noted that ASU is in the early stages of identifying the right advertising partner, emphasizing the importance of alignment with the university's values.

"We're excited about the Big 12 sponsorship. That's separate from the jersey patch," Rossini stated. He added that while there are opportunities for jersey sponsorship, the department is focused on maximizing potential partnerships rather than rushing into agreements.

In addition to sponsorship discussions, Rossini addressed facility issues, particularly regarding the team's recent training at Camp Tontozona, located about 20 miles northeast of Payson. He acknowledged concerns about the artificial turf field, which has deteriorated since its installation in 2019, but indicated that improvements are not a priority due to the limited use of the facility.

Major renovations are underway at Desert Financial Arena, and plans for a new indoor football facility are progressing. Rossini confirmed that a groundbreaking for the football facility is anticipated this fall, with collaborative efforts ongoing throughout the university to finalize details.

As the football season approaches, excitement is building for the Sun Devils' participation in the Union Jack Classic against Kansas at Wembley Stadium in London on September 19. Rossini reported that approximately 9,000 tickets have been sold for the game, following the sellout of the initial allotment of 6,000 tickets. He expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We can't wait to get to London.

Incredible opportunity."

Further details regarding the relocation of track and tennis facilities and potential benefits from the Novus Innovation Corridor development at the Tempe campus were also mentioned, but specifics remain unclear.
