Wydett Williams, a rookie safety for the Arizona Cardinals, is among a group of NFL players who have been granted a restraining order that could permit them to return for a fifth season of college football.
Williams is one of 16 players named in a lawsuit filed against the NCAA in Louisiana. According to ESPN, he is one of three players in the lawsuit who are currently on NFL rosters.
Signed as an undrafted free agent, Williams is not anticipated to make the Cardinals' 53-man roster. The team has several other safeties, including Budda Baker, Andrew Wingard, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and Kitan Crawford.
In the preseason, Williams has recorded nine tackles over two games. Further details regarding the lawsuit and its implications for Williams and the other players are not yet clear.
