The Arizona Cardinals are preparing to finalize their roster by August 30, when they must reduce their team from 90 players to 53. This comes after three preseason games and a month of training camp, with the team set to engage in a joint practice and a final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
Injury concerns are affecting several key players. Quarterback Carson Beck is dealing with a rib injury that has kept him out of most practice drills, although the team does not consider it a long-term issue. Running back Jeremiyah Love is sidelined with a high ankle sprain, while James Conner is still recovering from a foot injury sustained last season.
The competition for roster spots is particularly intense at wide receiver and edge rusher. The current depth chart lists Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Kendrick Bourne as starters, with Devin Duvernay, Reggie Virgil, and Jalen Brooks as backups. The Cardinals are likely to keep both Virgil and Brooks due to their strong performances, which may leave Simi Fehoko at risk of being cut.
On the offensive line, the starters include Paris Johnson Jr. and Elijah Wilkinson, with young backups Josh Fryar and Jayden Williams. The interior offensive line is also solidified with Isaac Seumalo, Hjalte Froholdt, and Isaiah Adams as starters, while Jon Gaines and Hayden Conner are expected to fill backup roles.
