The Arizona Cardinals are now facing a new competition for the backup offensive lineman position following the season-ending knee injury of rookie Chase Bisontis. With Bisontis sidelined, the battle for the primary backup guard spot has begun, previously contested between him and incumbent Isaiah Adams at right guard.
Candidates for the backup position include Valentin Senn, who is a first-year player on the roster due to the international exemption after spending his rookie season on injured reserve. Other contenders are veteran players, including Pryor and Udoh, both of whom have extensive experience in the league.
Pryor, in his eighth season, has made 40 career starts at both tackle and guard, while Udoh has started 22 games, primarily at right guard.
Conner, who has been playing left guard with the second-team offensive line, appears to be in the lead for the backup role. He has the added versatility of being able to play center and participated in five games last season, logging 29 snaps. Jon Gaines, who is likely the backup center, also has experience at guard, having started five games last year.
