His RBI single to center in the 10th inning scored Vargas and gave the Arizona Diamondbacks a 4-3 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday at Daikin Park. Arizona moved to 75-68, a half-game ahead of the San Diego Padres for the third National League wild-card berth.
Houston fell to 73-70, still three games clear of Texas in the AL West after the loss snapped a streak.
ESPN's box lists Moreno 2-for-5 with an RBI and his 30th double, batting .300/.380/.469 with 69 RBI. The go-ahead single came after Perdomo's sacrifice bunt moved the automatic runner into scoring position against King, who took the loss and fell to 2-4.
Climbing out of a three-run hole
Houston scored first and built a 3-1 lead behind Paredes, who drove in all three Astros runs and finished 2-for-5. Nootbaar cut the deficit with an RBI double in the seventh, his 13th double and 28th RBI of the season. Ketel Marte then tied it in the eighth with a 388-foot home run to right.
ESPN's box credits Marte with his 22nd homer and 68 RBI. The Associated Press, via FOX Sports, listed the same blast as Marte's 21st, a one-number disagreement with ESPN's box. The swing still forced extras in a park where Arizona had spent most of the night chasing.
Loaisiga earned the win to move to 7-3. Garcia recorded his fifth save. Pfaadt started and worked 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three runs with four strikeouts.
