Offensive Explosion in the Sixth

San Diego Padres offense produced a decisive six-run surge in the sixth inning to secure a 10-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. The inning began with a solo home run by Campusano, who blasted the ball 406 feet to left center. The scoring continued immediately after, as Andujar doubled to left to score Campusano. Subsequent singles by Song and Tatis Jr. added two more runs, followed by another single from Merrill that brought the total to six runs in the frame.

Pitching Performance

Michael King was the standout pitcher for San Diego, earning the win with six innings of work. He allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out four batters and walking two. His performance improved the Padres record to 46-46. For Arizona, Jose Cabrera took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. His record fell to 0-2. Relief pitchers Brandyn Garcia, Taylor Clarke, Juan Morillo, and Ryan Thompson combined for 3.2 innings, allowing three more earned runs.

Early Scoring and Late Runs

The Diamondbacks took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Moreno doubled to right, driving in Vargas. San Diego tied the game 1-1 in the third inning when Merrill grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Song to score and moving Tatis Jr. to third. In the fourth, Andujar doubled to left to score Campusano, giving San Diego a 2-1 lead. A two-run single by Bogaerts in the fifth inning extended the Padres advantage to 4-1.

Arizona managed to score in the seventh inning when Troy homered 405 feet to left center, scoring Gurriel Jr. Andujar doubled again to score Cronenworth, and Bowen singled to bring Andujar home, making the score 10-3. In the eighth, Kepler doubled to right to score Carroll, finalizing the 10-4 margin. The game was played at Petco Park in San Diego, California, with an attendance of 39,423. The Diamondbacks fell to 45-47 on the season.
