Lexington-Richland District Appoints New COO, Celebrates School Milestones

Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Allen Knotts as chief operations officer and celebrated several recent school openings and student achievements.

Lexington-Richland School District Five has appointed Allen Knotts as its new chief operations officer. The district also highlighted a series of recent accomplishments, including facility openings and student recognitions.

American Leadership Academy Blythewood is preparing to open its doors for the first time. The school will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at 10301 Wilson Boulevard in Blythewood. This event marks the start of its inaugural year as the state’s largest brick-and-mortar public charter school. In other district news, Lexington-Richland School District Five recently dedicated the new East Wing at Irmo High School International School for the Arts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The district also recognized students who received awards at the Tri-District Arts Consortium summer program. Me’Leah Council of Dutch Fork High School received the Teachers’ Choice Award in Dance. Ana Gomez of Irmo Middle School was honored with the Stephen Nevitt Award in Visual Art. Alexandria Jacques of Dutch Fork High School won the Barbara H. Thomson Award in Creative Writing. Ryan Kim of Chapin High School received the Brent Wilson Award in Strings II. Ma’Kayla Davis of Irmo High School was given the Dr. Anne Richardson Award in Dance.

The district has also released its policy regarding free and reduced-price meals for students participating in the National School Lunch program and the School Breakfast program. Details about the meal policy can be found at www.lexrich5.org.

American Leadership Academy employs about 219 people in Queen Creek, according to local government records.
