The directive was issued after school officials received information about law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hunt Highway and Power Road, close to the border with the Gila River Indian Reservation.
A notice distributed to staff, parents, and students clarified that the situation is classified as a shelter-in-place rather than a lockdown. Chandler Unified School District officials stated that authorities were pursuing a suspect in the area, though no further specifics regarding the individual or the incident were provided at the time of the report.
