Two schools, one family profession
Sadie Hilland and her mother, Heather Hilland, work in the same school district but at separate campuses. An October 2 ABC15 profile explores their connection as Queen Creek Unified educators.
District staff directories list Sadie as a physical education teacher at Mountain Trail Academy in Mesa and Heather as a kindergarten teacher at Desert Mountain Elementary in Queen Creek. The district’s name does not mean both campuses are in the town.
ABC15 reported that Sadie has two years of teaching experience and Heather has 32. In interviews with reporter Nick Ciletti, Heather expressed pride in watching her daughter teach, while Sadie described wanting to make her mother proud.
The new profile follows ABC15’s September feature on Sadie’s return to the district where she attended school. Neither report describes the two teachers sharing a classroom.
