The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the location for the future Queen Creek Arizona Temple. The planned facility will occupy a 15.5-acre parcel situated in the northeastern part of the city. Specifically, the site is located at the southeast corner of Ryan Road and Euell Drive, positioned south of Ranch Road and north of Queen Creek Road.
The temple building is designed to be 82,000 square feet. The grounds will also include a meetinghouse and an accompanying ancillary building. The property is located within a seven-mile radius of both the Mesa Gateway Airport and the Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus. A coordinating site map for the project was published on ChurchofJesusChrist.org on August 31.
This specific location was first identified in October 2024. At that time, then-Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple for Queen Creek during general conference. It was one of 17 temple locations he identified during that period.
Arizona currently has six dedicated temples and three in planning stages, bringing the total to nine. The operating temples are located in Mesa, Snowflake, The Gila Valley, Gilbert, Phoenix, and Tucson. In addition to the Queen Creek project, temples are also planned for Yuma and Flagstaff, which were announced in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The history of the Church in Arizona dates back to the 1850s, when members first preached the restored gospel in the state. During the 1860s and 1870s, Church parties explored the region for potential settlement sites. Following these explorations, a large group of pioneers arrived in the spring of 1876 to establish four settlements.
