The Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department, along with the Queen Creek Police Department, have issued safety guidelines for residents using fireworks during the upcoming holiday weekend. The sale and use of legal consumer fireworks in the area are permitted through July 6.
Officials emphasize that proper disposal is critical to preventing fires. Residents are instructed to place used fireworks in a bucket of water immediately after use. Because devices may remain hot, throwing them directly into trash bins is discouraged, as this can ignite fires or damage receptacles. After soaking overnight, the spent fireworks should be bagged and then discarded in the regular trash. They must not be placed in blue recycling carts.
The department clarified which items are permitted. Legal consumer fireworks are limited to ground-based and hand-held sparkling devices. Devices that rise into the air, explode, or fly above the ground are prohibited. This ban includes sky rockets, bottle rockets, reloadable shell devices, aerial shells, and single-tube devices launched into the air.
Legal fireworks may only be used on private property. Individuals who ignite or discharge these devices assume full responsibility and liability for any costs associated with emergency responses if they are required.
Residents who observe the use of illegal fireworks in their neighborhoods are encouraged to contact the Queen Creek Police Department. Reports can be made by calling the non-emergency line at 480-358-3500.
