Head coach Mike LaFleur commented on various position groups earlier in the week. The wide receiver lineup was relatively straightforward, featuring Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, and Devin Duvernay as the kick returner. The team also decided to keep Simi Fehoko, Jalen Brooks, and rookie Reggie Virgil, marking a total of seven receivers on the roster.
In the running back and tight end positions, the Cardinals opted for three players each: running backs Jeremiyah Love, Tyler Allgeier, and Bam Knight, along with tight ends Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins, and Hunter Long, who was acquired through a trade. With Love's status uncertain due to a high-ankle sprain, Evan Hull is a potential candidate for elevation in Week 1.
LaFleur noted Long’s familiarity with the offensive system, which should aid his integration despite a learning curve.
The Cardinals also faced a challenging decision regarding the release of BJ Ojulari, a second-round pick in 2023, who struggled with injuries. General manager Monti Ossenfort has faced criticism from fans regarding this decision, but LaFleur emphasized that the choice was made with the team's best interests in mind.
