Contract extension discussions for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson have gained momentum, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. After a standout 2026 season where Wilson recorded 78 receptions for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns, the team and Wilson may finalize a deal in the coming days.
Wilson, 26, became eligible to renegotiate his contract this offseason as he enters the final year of a four-year, $5.3 million rookie deal. Despite previous reports indicating that the two sides were far apart, the Cardinals have prioritized securing an extension for Wilson, especially following his first 1,000-yard season.
General manager Monti Ossenfort has expressed a desire to reach an agreement, similar to past negotiations with players like Jacoby Brissett. Although there had been speculation that Wilson might explore free agency after the season, the current developments suggest that a deal is likely.
In addition to contract discussions, Wilson has commented positively on the team’s new head coach, Mike LaFleur, who previously served as a receivers coach with the San Francisco 49ers. Wilson noted that LaFleur's attention to detail in team meetings is beneficial for players. His teammate, Marvin Harrison Jr., referred to LaFleur as a dream coach for wide receivers.
