The Arizona Wildcats football team will kick off its 2026 season on Saturday by hosting the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at Casino Del Sol Stadium in Tucson.

Coming off a successful 9-4 season in 2025 under head coach Brent Brennan, the Wildcats are heavily favored, with sportsbooks listing them at approximately 33.5 points ahead of their in-state rivals. Arizona has a strong historical advantage in the series, leading 17-2 and winning the last two encounters against NAU.

Quarterback Noah Fifita, who holds the school record with 73 career touchdown passes, leads the Wildcats. Meanwhile, NAU enters the game with a record of 1-0 after a comeback victory over Eastern Washington, winning 34-27 in their season opener. The Lumberjacks, ranked No. 25 in the FCS preseason polls, will rely on returning quarterback Ty Pennington and a solid ground game.

This matchup marks the beginning of Arizona’s non-conference schedule and the 123rd season in the program's history. Fans are encouraged to wear blue in recognition of Native American Heritage. Tickets for the game are still available, starting at prices in the teens.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MST (9:30 p.m. ET), and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
