The Arizona Cardinals have officially announced their team captains for the 2026 season. Head coach Mike LaFleur revealed that quarterback Jacoby Brissett, offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt, long snapper Casey Kreiter, defensive back Budda Baker, and linebacker Mack Wilson will serve as captains this year.
LaFleur noted that the selection was made solely by the players in the locker room. He emphasized the importance of leadership within the team, stating, "When you do get voted a captain, obviously that's kind of saying that your teammates, the locker room, looks up to you."
Kreiter is the only new captain this season, while Baker, Wilson, and Froholdt return from last year. LaFleur acknowledged that many other players were also considered for captaincy and will continue to have a voice within the team.
Brissett, who has recently settled into the role of both captain and starting quarterback, has garnered positive feedback from LaFleur regarding his interactions with the team. LaFleur mentioned that Brissett's leadership qualities were evident during training camp, stating, "The more and more I'm around him, the more I get it in terms of the person."
The Cardinals are set to begin their regular season on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, with Brissett leading the team as QB1. Further updates about the team, including information on running back Jeremiyah Love, were also provided by LaFleur.
