Queen Creek's Mayor's Teen Advisory Committee reviews its final plan Monday night for Teen Fall Fest, the first of four town-run Halloween events this month that have taken the place of the old Trunk or Treat.

The free festival runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Frontier Family Park, spreading across the corporate ramadas, the basketball and sand volleyball courts and the nearby lawn. The committee's planning packet estimates 150 to 300 people.

What's planned

  • Music: two 20-minute opening sets, then three 40-minute sets by bands.
  • Haunted maze: visitors can walk through it in daylight; once the sun sets, scare actors take over.
  • Teen vendor market: the town is aiming for 11 to 15 booths run by teens, who keep all of their sales. Food sales are not allowed in the market, and vendors must register and sign a waiver through the town's CivicRec system.
  • Food trucks for meals, dessert and drinks, plus lawn games, glow volleyball and four themed photo spots.

Committee members are scheduled to staff check-in, the photo areas and the maze. The planning documents list the committee's goals as giving teens a safe social night out and building awareness of the group.

The committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the ballroom of the Queen Creek Recreation & Aquatic Center, 22343 E. Ryan Road.

The rest of the month

Three more events follow at the recreation center, which sits next to the park:

  • Spooky Splash, 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 24: a floating pumpkin patch, a DJ and fall games. It costs $10 a person, including one pumpkin, and requires online registration. Children 15 and under need an adult with them unless they have completed the center's youth orientation.
  • Not So Spooky Halloween Party, 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24: trick-or-treating, carnival games and a "Spooky House." Registration is online.
  • All Hallows' Eve, 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29: snacks while supplies last and a 6 p.m. costume contest with prizes for best overall, best couple or group, and most creative. RSVP online.

Why the events got smaller

The last Trunk or Treat, in 2023, drew more than 20,000 people to the Town Center, the Queen Creek Independent reported. The town dropped it in 2024, citing shrinking parking, the need to shut Ellsworth Road for two days and rising costs.

Parks and Recreation Director Adam Robinson told the Independent he expects "a couple of hundred people" at each of this year's events. Spooky Splash is back for a second year after a smaller first run in 2025.
