Opening Explosion

Del Castillo provided the decisive offensive spark for the Arizona Diamondbacks, launching a three-run home run in the first inning to establish an early advantage. The 414-foot shot to right field powered Carroll and Moreno across the plate, instantly shifting the momentum at Chase Field. This early surge set the tone for the contest, giving Arizona a 3-0 lead that would define the early stages of the game.

Brewers Rally and Tie

Milwaukee responded with grit, chipping away at the Diamondbacks’ lead throughout the middle innings. In the fifth, Christian Yelich leveled the score with a two-run home run to right center, measuring 418 feet. The blast tied the game at 3-3 after Yelich’s home run scored Turang, erasing Arizona’s early cushion and keeping the Brewers in contention.

Late Inning Drama

The game remained tight until the eighth inning, when Arizona regained the lead. Vargas doubled to left field, driving in Barrosa to make it 4-3. The Diamondbacks held on defensively, with the bullpen shutting down any further Milwaukee attempts to tie or take the lead. In the ninth, Chourio added a solo home run to left center (410 feet) for Milwaukee, making the final score 4-3, but it was too late to overcome the deficit.

Pitching Performances

Merrill Kelly earned the win (6-8) for Arizona, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out six. He was supported by a relief corps that included Jonathan Loaisiga, Brandyn Garcia, and Juan Morillo, each pitching one scoreless inning. Paul Sewald secured the save (20) with a perfect ninth inning, striking out two batters.

For Milwaukee, Brandon Woodruff took the loss (2-2) after giving up three earned runs on two hits in 3.2 innings, despite striking out six. Craig Yoho and Jared Koenig pitched the remaining innings for the Brewers, combining to allow no further runs but unable to tie the game before the final out.
