The Arizona Cardinals have two preseason games left and are nearing final roster decisions. While several positions appear settled, the running back position presents an interesting competition for the fourth spot.

Currently, three players are vying for this position: Trey Benson, Bam Knight, and Corey Kiner. Rookie Jeremiyah Love, free agent Tyler Allgeier, and veteran James Conner are expected to secure the first three running back roles.

Benson is regarded as the most talented among the contenders, but he lacks special teams experience, which is crucial for a fourth running back. Additionally, he has been dealing with a knee issue, the same one that required surgery last season.

Knight is seen as a frontrunner due to his performance last season and his ability to contribute on special teams. He had a solid showing in the Hall of Fame game and performed well against the Raiders, where he recorded three carries for 15 yards.

Kiner also had a strong performance, leading the team with 59 rushing yards on 10 attempts and scoring a touchdown in the Hall of Fame game.

In terms of special teams experience, Knight has returned 12 kicks and played significantly more snaps compared to Kiner, who has limited special teams involvement. Both players are expected to receive extended opportunities in the remaining preseason games.

Benson's chances appear slim, as he may end up on injured reserve or be released, especially given his knee condition. The outcome of this competition will be closely monitored as the Cardinals finalize their roster.
