The Arizona State Sun Devils are gearing up for the 2026 football season with optimism, following a successful 2024 Big 12 championship. This marks the fourth season under head coach Kenny Dillingham, who recently declined an offer from the University of Michigan to continue his work in Tempe.
Dillingham, 36, is enthusiastic about the future of the program, which includes plans for a $55 million indoor practice facility scheduled to open in 2028. Additionally, former Pepsi executive Brian Swette is providing financial support to further bolster the team's resources.
In a recent interview, Dillingham expressed his commitment to coaching at Arizona State, emphasizing his desire to bring success to his alma mater. He stated, "I don't care about being at a blue blood. I want to coach football and be happy." His passion for the program and dedication to revitalizing the fanbase are clear priorities for him.
Support from the ASU leadership has increased, highlighted by a contract update in January, which Dillingham views as a positive step. He has assembled a strong coaching staff, including notable figures like Hines Ward and Brian Ward, who are expected to remain with the program long-term. Fundraising efforts are also reportedly improving.
As the Sun Devils prepare for the upcoming season, expectations are moderate, with predictions placing them in the middle tier of the Big 12. However, the team boasts promising talent, including elite wide receivers Omarion Miller and Reed Harris.
