Sadie Hilland has returned to the Queen Creek Unified School District as a physical education teacher, bringing her experience as a former student of the district to her current role at Mountain Trail Academy in Mesa.
Hiland is currently in her second year teaching second grade. She describes her return to the community where she grew up as a way to give back and help shape young learners. She expressed enthusiasm for working with the local community and serving students who are part of the same environment she experienced growing up.
Before entering education, Hilland focused heavily on athletics, particularly softball. She played center field at Scottsdale Community College before continuing her sports career at Arizona State University. She notes that this competitive background influences how she designs her lessons and interacts with children.
Her approach to physical education emphasizes enjoyment as a key component of activity. Hilland states that the goal is not just exercise, but creating fun experiences that help children understand how to maintain a healthy lifestyle long-term.
