VIO Med Spa, a franchise chain offering non-invasive aesthetic and wellness treatments, plans to open its first Arizona clinic on Nov. 11 at The Switchyard in Queen Creek, the company announced Oct. 15. The opening will make Arizona the brand's 21st state, and a second Phoenix-area clinic is planned for Scottsdale in 2027.
The Queen Creek franchise belongs to Cynthia and Jeff Ballantyne. According to the company, Cynthia Ballantyne was formerly the West Region managing director at Alera Group, where her region had about 700 employees and $215 million in revenue, and she still runs a consulting business focused on employee benefits and risk management. Jeff Ballantyne has owned franchises for more than three decades.
The owners will set direction for the business, while a local staff of a spa manager, nurse practitioner injectors and estheticians will run the clinic each day. The spa will be one of several restaurant, retail and fitness tenants at The Switchyard.
"Our ambition in Arizona goes well beyond these first two locations," said Ryan Rao, VIO's chief development officer. "We see the Phoenix metro area as a market where we can build a substantial presence, and that starts with owners who know how to build and lead businesses."
The Scottsdale clinic will be owned by William Grambley, a Navy veteran and former health care executive, and Katherine Barton, a Scottsdale native.
