Cutter Boley has officially been named the starting quarterback for the Arizona State Sun Devils, as reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel. The Sun Devils will kick off their season on Saturday, September 5, against the Morgan State Bears at Mountain America Stadium.
Boley, a junior and transfer from Kentucky, has emerged as the top choice after competing with sixth-year senior Mikey Keene, a local from Chandler High School. Recently, Boley has been receiving first-team practice reps, indicating a strong likelihood of his selection as the starter.
Standing 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, Boley had a notable performance in the 2025 season, where he completed 65.8% of his passes for 2,160 yards, along with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was previously named to the SEC’s All-Freshman team. His standout game came against Tennessee, where he threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns, despite the team losing 56-34.
While Boley has shown potential, he has also faced challenges with turnovers, having thrown 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions throughout his career, along with losing two fumbles last season. In 2024, he redshirted after appearing in four games at Kentucky, where he had promising performances in the second half against Texas and Murray State.
