Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has joined the Arizona Cardinals, bringing his vibrant personality and unique connections to the team's receiving corps. Known for his individual handshakes with teammates, Bourne emphasizes the importance of personal relationships within the locker room. He stated that these handshakes are a non-verbal way for the players to bond, showcasing the camaraderie among the wide receivers.
Bourne, who has accumulated 329 catches over his nine seasons in the NFL, is expected to fill the role of a reliable No. 3 wide receiver behind Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr. His signing is partly attributed to his previous relationship with head coach Mike LaFleur, who coached him during his early career with the San Francisco 49ers.
LaFleur noted that Bourne consistently brings a positive attitude, saying, "There are no highs and lows. He lives in the high all the time. That's his standard."
Teammates have praised Bourne's infectious energy. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett remarked on Bourne's ability to keep the mood light during practices, even when the team faces challenges. He acknowledged that while Bourne's humor can sometimes be distracting, it is essential for maintaining team morale. Marvin Harrison Jr. echoed this sentiment, stating that the team benefits from Bourne's consistent energy, regardless of his performance in practice.
Bourne expressed his contentment with his current role, reflecting on his journey through the NFL. After stints with the 49ers and the New England Patriots, he appreciates the opportunity to support LaFleur as he embarks on his head coaching career.
