Queen Creek's Recycle Center will be closed all of next week, Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Oct. 16, while the town changes its entrance and layout, the town announced Tuesday.

Residents will not be able to use the center during the closure. It is scheduled to reopen with normal hours on Saturday, Oct. 17. The center, at 22179 E. Ryan Road near Frontier Family Park, is normally open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The work is tied to the town's new fleet building, where construction is set to start soon. To keep construction vehicles and residents' cars apart, the town is moving the Recycle Center's entrance from Ryan Road to a spot just west of where it is now. The address will not change, and drivers will still reach the center from Ryan Road.

What the center takes

The center accepts the same items as curbside recycling carts: plastic bottles, jugs, jars, trays, containers and cartons, paper, aluminum and metal cans, glass and corrugated cardboard. Glass goes in its own container. The town asks people to break down boxes, remove foam and other packing material, empty recyclables straight into the bins rather than bagging them, and not leave anything outside the bins.

A collection container for used cooking oil and grease is also on site.

The center is open to all town residents, including people in apartment communities.

Other options

For items that do not belong in the bins, such as appliances, electronics, metals, tires, latex paint, paper for shredding and textiles, the town's next free drive-through QC Recycles drop-off event is Saturday, Nov. 14. Registration is required at QueenCreekAZ.gov/RecycleEvents.

Residents can also schedule the town's free monthly bulk trash pickup at QueenCreekAZ.gov/BulkTrash.
