Extra-Inning Drama Seals Victory

The Milwaukee Brewers secured a hard-fought 7-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Chase Field in Phoenix. The game remained deadlocked through nine innings before Milwaukee broke the tie in the 11th inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues by the Diamondbacks' pitching staff.

Early Power and Quick Tie

Milwaukee jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Mitchell launched a 435-foot home run to center field. The blast, which was upheld after an umpire review, scored two runs and gave the Brewers a 2-0 advantage. Bauers crossed the plate on the same play.

The Brewers extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning when Bauers singled to right field, allowing Turang to score. However, Arizona responded immediately. Moreno singled to right, bringing Marte home to make it 3-1. Two batters later, Arenado doubled to left, scoring both Carroll and Moreno to tie the game at 3-3. Gurriel Jr. reached third base on the play.

Errors Define the 11th

The game remained tied until the bottom of the 11th inning. With the score knotted, Chourio reached on an infield single to the pitcher. The subsequent plays proved costly for Arizona. Perkins scored, and Pratt scored on a throwing error by pitcher Ryan Thompson. Chourio advanced to second base, and Yelich was safe at third on the same error.

Turang then singled to left field, driving in both Yelich and Chourio to give Milwaukee a 5-3 lead. Vargas later singled to right, scoring Gurriel Jr. to make the score 7-3. Arizona added a final run when Vargas scored, but the damage was done.

Pitching Performances

Grant Anderson earned the win for Milwaukee, pitching two scoreless innings of relief. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. The Brewers' bullpen was effective overall, with Chad Patrick pitching 3.1 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out two. Kyle Harrison took the loss for Arizona, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

Final Records

With the win, the Milwaukee Brewers improved their record to 54-32. The Arizona Diamondbacks fell to 43-44. The game drew an attendance of 31,280 spectators.
