Queen Creek, Arizona — The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed right-hander Zac Gallen on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, an official club transaction dated July 12 shows.

Gallen was scratched from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Dodgers after returning to Phoenix for imaging, according to MLB.com. The club recalled left-hander Mitch Bratt from Triple-A Reno, and Bratt started the series finale in Los Angeles.

The transaction is retroactive to July 9. The Diamondbacks have not announced a more specific diagnosis or a timetable for Gallen’s return.

MLB.com reported that Gallen had made 19 starts and carried a 6.34 ERA this season before the move. He last pitched July 7 against San Diego, when he allowed four runs in six innings.

For Queen Creek readers, the roster move comes as Arizona enters the All-Star break with its rotation relying on depth options while Gallen is sidelined.
